The Low-Tech Exercise Equipment

The beauty about technology is that it is constantly changing. With some exercise equipment low-tech is more common. Take the stability ball for instance. This exercise ball is round, comes in various sizes to allow for height differences with its users, and made primarily of tough, durable latex or vinyl material. Some however are burst resistant.

What that means is that in case the ball gets punctured the ball will deflate slowly preventing any sudden loss of air. The ball is at its best for strength training and core stability. The ball is used for stretching and balance exercises when one is doing Pilates or yoga.

The exercise ball is so low-tech that not much has happened to its design. The introduction of feet on the base of the ball has given it even more stability. There are stability balls shaped like a peanut. Some of these peanut shape models are large enough to hold two people at the same time. These are best used in rehabilitation purposes where the trainer can be next to the patient. The best part of the ball is that there are no bells and whistles. Nothing to break down, not expensive to replace and no extended warranty plans to buy. So the next time you are looking for something a little off the radar, the stability ball might be a good place to look.
