As an outdoor bonsai, the Chinese Juniper on a Rock can withstand many different harsh conditions. It should remain outdoors year-round and generally does not do well in an indoor environment.

 

The Chinese Juniper is one of the most commonly grown bonsai because it is very versatile and is easy to train. It can be found in mountainous regions, and it often grows at 3,000 feet above sea level. It has a very forgiving nature, which is why many new bonsai shapers begin with a Juniper bonsai. There are a number of different varieties of the Juniper, and many can be trained to grow alongside other objects or in interesting shapes.
