# Oregon Romantic Getaway in Scenic Wine Country
A great idea for an Oregon romantic getaway is to spend a weekend wine tasting and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Willamette Valley and central Oregon. Most people do not think of Oregon when they think of wine country, with California’s lovely Napa Valley just down south. But Oregon’s vineyards are growing!
I recently enjoyed two months in the beautiful Napa Valley wine country working with my aunt who has a honey farm there. She met my uncle, the beekeeper, twenty years ago when he had only a few hives in Fairfax. Now, they have over four hundred beehives all over the San Francisco Bay area and their brand of honey is recognized and loved! Their honey is used by upscale restaurants, sold in grocery stores like Whole Foods, and has even been featured on Emeril’s cooking show!
I helped my aunt sell and advertise her honey at several special events and at Farmers’ Markets. I did not realize how many people really love honey! It was fun to give them samples of all the different varietals so they can see that, although it “tastes like regular honey,” each kind has a unique taste depending on the flowers from which it was harvested.
My aunt and uncle are lucky to be located in the Napa Valley, surrounded by good food and wine to complement their business. I myself have not experienced an Oregon getaway in wine country, but I imagine it would be no less delightful than that of Napa–and probably less expensive. So consider a romantic Oregon getaway in the Willamette Valley wine country.
