Are you interested in tracing your family tree?  This used to be a big job that normally required a trip to a genealogical library, such as the one in Salt Lake City. Today, however, with use of the Internet, it is much easier to find out where you came from.  There are numerous websites that are very helpful in their instructions on how to access public records that can shed much light on your ancestors.  Of course, to take advantage of the treasures found on these websites, it’s important to have a high speed Internet connection.  If your online connection is dragging, you might want to check the with the different internet service providers in your city, and they should be able to get you plenty of speed to check on your family tree.

Today sites like ancestry.com, myheritage.com and familytree.com are very useful tools because they have already gathered huge databanks of information.  For instance one woman knew that her grandmother came to this country on a ship named the Mauritania.  By going into one of the family tree sites she was able to actually download the ship’s manifest.  She found her grandmother under her maiden name, and learned that that she traveled by herself in 2nd class — at the time a mere girl of 17! Tracing your family lineage can be great fun and a wonderful education for your kids. But first be sure to check with the high speed internet service providers in your area if you need additional connection speed.
